Welcome to Foxes Class page.

The class teachers are Mrs Goodfellow and Mrs. Wilkinson. Our teaching assistant is Mrs Spilsbury.


We are a mixed age Reception and Year 1 class.


In the reception year we teach through a very play based curriculum where all areas of learning are covered through play both indoors and outdoors. We are always busy learning together during continuous provision time and we have whole class times for Literacy, Maths and phonics as well as times to look at the topics which interest the children.In Reception we follow the Revised Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, learning through purposeful play.

Topics are planned that follow the children’s interests, capture their imagination and develop their learning in the following areas:

* Communication and Language

* Literacy

* Physical Development

* Mathematics

* Understanding the world

* Expressive arts and design

The children engage in a range of activities that are based on first-hand experiences around these areas of learning which the children can access both inside and outside the classroom.

Year 1

Each week Year 1 children will take part in Maths and English activities as well as a range of foundation subjects. In these lessons we develop lots of key skills including handwriting, phonics, counting and spelling. These are designed to be engaging and interactive for the children and are also delivered through a topic based approach.

Throughout the year, the Year 1 children will build up their independence and be given more responsibility.

All children also have the opportunity to develop their learning through access to continuous provision which is set up indoors and outdoors. These are planned with the class topic and children’s interest in mind, they include a range of interactive activities which aim to capture the children’s imagination to progress their learning.
